Presenter Charles Lyons shares the powerful story of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination and the extraordinary funeral that followed, bringing this pivotal moment in American history to life. Through compelling storytelling and rare historical images, audiences will journey back to April 1865 to learn about the events at Ford’s Theatre, the funeral train that traveled across America, Victorian mourning customs, and the national grief that united the country following the Civil War.
Guests will also have the unique opportunity to view fascinating artifacts and relics from the era, offering a closer connection to this defining chapter in American history. The presentation features authentic historical items and museum-quality displays from The Times in History, A Traveling Museum, allowing visitors to experience history beyond the page and gain a deeper appreciation for the lives, traditions, and events surrounding Lincoln’s final journey.
Charles Lyons is the founder and curator of The Times In History, A Traveling Museum, a unique educational exhibit dedicated to the death, funeral, and legacy of Abraham Lincoln. Through authentic artifacts, dramatic storytelling, and immersive presentations, Charles brings one of America’s most pivotal moments in history to life for a variety of audiences.

Shorewood-Troy Public Library is located in the Brookforest neighborhood just northeast of the Route 52/Jefferson St. and Brookshore Dr. intersection.
Since its creation in 1975, the library strives to:
