Author Lindsay Welbers will show you how to use the Metra, what kind of landscapes are accessible using transit, as well as some challenges using public transit to get into nature.
This presentation is suitable for both newcomers to public transit and hiking and those who are more experienced on both rails and trails. This program will include 5 places where you can get outside and enjoy nature right now.
A freelance Chicago journalist and sustainable transportation advocate, Lindsay Welbers grew up in Central Illinois in 100 acres of pristine second-growth forest. She manages Third Coast Hikes, a blog focused on the outdoors in the Great Lakes Region. With Chicago Transit Hikes she aims to encourage Chicagoans to explore their own backyards, using the tools they already have available, and to protect our natural landscape for all future generations.
