Help celebrate Earth Day, and help keep thousands of pounds of waste out of landfills, by bringing your plastic waste to us!

For the next year, the library will be participating in the NexTrex® Plastic Film Recycling Challenge. If you can help the library collect 1,000 pounds of plastic in the next 12 months, the library will recieve a Trex Bench! Recycle bins will be available in the loby of the library starting on April 22, 2024.

All plastic must be clean, dry and free of food residue. The following items are acceptable to recycle with the program: Grocery bags, bread bags, bubble wrap, dry cleaning bags, newspaper bags, ice bags, plastic shipping envelopes, ziploc and other reclosable food storage bags, cereal bags, case overwrap, salt bags, pallet wrap and stretch film, wood pellet bags, and produce bags.

About the branch

Shorewood-Troy Public Library is located in the Brookforest neighborhood just northeast of the Route 52/Jefferson St. and Brookshore Dr. intersection.

Since its creation in 1975, the library strives to:

-Support lifelong learning for personal development and discovery
-Provide free and easy access to print and digital  materials and resources, along with equipment, facilities for public use and friendly knowledgeable staff
-Build community in a warm and welcoming space
-Promote the enjoyment of reading by offering a wide variety of materials, both recent and classic
